O*NET OnLine Help Accessibility
O*NET OnLine is designed for the widest possible audience, including accessibility resources such as:
- support for a wide range of screen resolutions and zoom sizes
- descriptive text for screen readers
- ARIA-recommended metadata to support multiple access and input mechanisms
- adherence to Section 508 and W3C-WAI guidelines
In 1998, Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act to require Federal agencies to
make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with
disabilities. Section 508 was enacted to eliminate barriers in information
technology, to make available new opportunities for people with disabilities,
and to encourage development of technologies that will help achieve these goals.
In keeping with both the letter of and the spirit of Section 508 compliance, The
Department of Labor is committed to making O*NET OnLine accessible to the widest
possible audience, including persons with disabilities. So that all may benefit
from O*NET's comprehensive occupational information and online functionality,
we are ensuring, to the maximum extent feasible, that information in O*NET is
accessible to persons using assistive technology.
O*NET OnLine also provides extensive linkages to additional resources for more
information on accommodations, disabilities, and workplace issues. O*NET OnLine
has made efforts to accommodate the diverse needs of users, following the
guidelines of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and its Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).
